Where we are - How to reach us

Florence is a city to visit on foot and the Plaza Hotel Lucchesi is certainly the ideal place to start from for a truly satisfying visit. The hotel is located on the right bank of the Arno river, between Santa Croce and Piazzale Michelangelo, a short distance from the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio, the Cathedral, the Accademia and the main Florence railroad station of Santa Maria Novella.
The hotel has its own garage (for a charge), and is easy to reach by car.

By motorway

 The quickest way
From the A1 motorway, take the Firenze Sud exit (from the A11 take the A1 towards Rome and exit at Firenze Sud). Past the toll booth:

  • Take the ring road (along via Giovanni Agnelli and via Marco Polo - for about 2km -) to Ponte del Varlungo
  • After Ponte del Varlungo, turn left on Via Enrico De Nicola, continue to via della Casaccia and turn left on Lungarno Aldo Moro (about 1.5Km)
  • Continue along Lungarno Cristoforo Colombo which turns into Lungarno del Tempio (about 1.3 Km)
  • Turn right on viale Giovanni Amendola and, after about 200m, turn immediately left onto Viale Duca degli Abruzzi, continue towards the left to Viale della Giovine Italia (staying in the right lane) to Piazza Piave and then turn right onto Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia
  • The Plaza Hotel Lucchesi is about 300m down this street, on your right

The easiest way, without looking for street names, is to follow the white signs directing you to the city center after turning left coming from Ponte del Varlungo. When you come to viale Amendola, there are brown signs indicating the church of Santa Croce. Following these signs you get on Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia and pass right in front of the hotel.

The most scenic way
From the A1 motorway take the Firenze Certosa exit (from the A11 take the A1 towards Rome and exit at Firenze Certosa). Past the toll booth:

  • Follow the signs for Florence
  • Take Via Senese for about 3km
  • Turn right on Via del Gelsomino (required route) for about 900m
  • Continue on Viale Torricelli (for about 400m)
  • Turn right on Viale Galileo. Continue past Piazzale Michelangelo and down Viale Michelangelo to Piazza Ferrucci (about 2.5Km)
  • After Piazza Ferrucci, turn right onto San Niccolò bridge. Cross the bridge and proceed along Viale Giovanni Amendola for about 200m, then turn sharp left onto Viale Duca degli Abruzzi, continue to the left along Viale della Giovine Italia (keeping to the right) to Piazza Piave and turn right onto Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia
  • The Plaza Hotel Lucchesi is about 300m down, on your right

Here again, the easiest way is to follow the yellow signs for Piazzale Michelangelo, after turning onto Via del Gelsomino. After passing the Piazzale and descending to Piazza Ferrucci, cross San Niccolò bridge and follow the brown signs that you will start seeing on Viale Amendola, for the church of Santa Croce. Following these signs you will get on Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia and pass right in front of the hotel
